Actually, this doesn’t use any raw mp3 data provided by Flash, but rather the old method of loading the spectrum data from a file (the key is in http://web.pr.hu/tomper/prj/vu/mp3/m3.mp3.vu (it’s really an swf))…

What this does innovate is the ability to visualize the spectrum data using the new Flash 8 methods.

So current state: we do not know, if we can read sound raw data, waiting for 8ball documentation :)

there is no way on earth spectrum analysis will be incorporated into the new player.

look at the great flashAmp 2, by marmalade media, or if you don;t want to pay see if swiftMP3 is still available. i did a lot of stuff with that a few years ago but i think it’s creator has left it where it was. flashAmp is great though and cheap, the huge arrays you speak of will be generated by either flashAmp or swiftMP3.

    have fun :)

nice!!! …if you change the _quality from high to medium or low and back to high, this will create additional effects more like itunes

This is just some actionscript driven visual + mp3 player. Nothing more.
